Why Have A Breast Enlargement?

Breast enlargement is by far the most requested cosmetic surgery in the UK. While celebrity advocates such as Katie Price and Pamela Anderson give weight to the belief that women choose to have breast augmentation in order to have Jessica Rabbit-style proportions, most have other more modest desires.

Breasts are seen as intrinsically feminine and, although it is not the case, many women feel it somehow makes them less of a woman if they have small breasts. It can cause embarrassment in front of partners and a sense of inadequacy when trying on clothes which hang loose across the bust line. Choosing to have breast implants can be a way of boosting self-esteem and can enable a women to feel happier and more comfortable with her appearance. The majority of women though choose only to go up a couple of cup sizes at the most to give them a natural look that fits their frame.

There are many other reasons however that woman opt for surgery, and having bigger breasts is just the tip of the iceberg. For those who have had to go through the devastating process of having a mastectomy due to breast cancer, knowing that there is a way to return their breast(s) to their former glory can help enormously with the psychological healing. The same applies too for women who have been involved in an accident or trauma which has caused damage to the breasts.

Being pregnant and giving birth is an amazing thing but it can have a huge detrimental effect on the body, especially the stomach and of course the breasts. Women who may have had full, perky boobs before getting pregnant find themselves with breasts that resemble deflated balloons once they have finished breast feeding. This also occurs when women lose huge amounts of weight rapidly. Having a boob job can put back volume and buoyancy, and help restore the natural shape of the breast.

There is also the issue of asymmetry. While it is normal for women to have one breast slightly larger than the other, in some women this difference is more marked and can cause self-consciousness and awkwardness. This can be easily resolved with a breast enlargement to the smaller breast to balance them out.

Although breast enlargement is not advisable in all situations or may be more suitable in conjunction with other surgery such as a breast lift, a cosmetic surgeon will be able to advise you on the best course of action.
