does lasik last

does lasik last
does the cornea in the eye grow like regular tissue?

I am thinking about lasik but I just changed my prescription last year.

Unfortunately no. That’s why scientists are working hard to ‘grow corneas’ in the laboratory by using adult stems cells obtained from the surrounding tissues of the cornea called limbus.

The stem cells are produced by the limbus, an area surrounding the cornea, These are the “maternal” cells that “give birth” to new corneal surface when they are necessary to replace those lost due to normal “wear and tear” or injury. Because adult stem cells do not multiply and therefore cannot be replaced, destruction of its stem cells compromises the corneas’ healing ability. Therefore, the stems cells are normally obtained from an healthy eye.

new botox drug

March 20th, 2010 The Doctor No comments

new botox drug
Should next week’s ‘New Yorker’ magazine have a picture of the McCain’s with…..?

..John wearing a “Depends”, holding a bottle of “Viagra”. And in the fireplace, a picture of MLK burning. Then have a picture of Cindy holding a bottle of botox in one hand and a six pack or drugs in the other hand.

Would anyone find that offensive & tasteless too….why because it’s “satire” right?

Thoughts?

Funny how the same posters say the current New Yorker’s cartoon cover page is accurate, are criticizing your question when applied to McCain about his age. It is offensive and tasteless on both situations. Unfortunately there will not a cover such as you describe about McCain. There should be equal press on both candidates.
