glycolic acid collagen
Which of the statements about cmpounds or durgs associated with the skin is correct?

I need help with my bio homework. Here are the choices listed for my question.

1) vaseline (petroleum jelly) causes an increase in thickness of dermis
2) Retin A initiates cell division in the epidermis and increess collagen production
3) papaya digest the innermost epidermal layer(s) and results in cell division
4) glycolic acid removes the outer layers of the dermis and initiates cell division when used at a concentration of 5%
5) Ethocyn initates cell division in teh epidermis of the skin

I picked #4 but I wasn’t sure. Can any bio majors help me please?

Hey I spent forever trying to figure this one out too. Its a tricky one, you really have to pay attention to the wording. After I found the answer it was really obvious that #4 wasnt the correct answer because the dermis is the 2nd layer of the skin, its not included in the outer layers. The outer layer is the epidermis which consists of the stratum corneum and some other layers, Im not sure what, maybe the stratum lucidum too? I’m not too sure but anyways the answer is Ethocyn causes secretion of elastin in the dermis of the skin. (The elastin fibers are even found in the papillary dermis of the skin, so theres another clue plus a little extra info in case you didnt know :)

Glycolic acid would either be used in concentrations of 20-80% by a dermatologist or in at home kits in concentrations of 10%. Glycolic acid also reacts with the upper layer of the epidermis. So I just wanted to let you know cuz when I saw your posting I thought Dr. Bizzoco found this question online and I figured it would have the answer. But thats the answer. Hope it helps! Do you by chance know the answers to these questions?

stimulate collagen

stimulate collagen
Fraxel for stretch marks, I have a theory, could this be the answer!?

So, the theory is that as far as I know, then Fraxel stimulates the production of collagen in the scar (this case – the stretch mark), and collagen is the thing that is responsible for the skins elasticity. What if someone (maybe me?) got Fraxel for stretch marks which would stimulate the healing of stretch marks (and production of collagen) and then lose some weight tightening the skin and that way eliminating stretch marks. I didn’t mention that I’m 16 years old, 1.90m tall and I weigh about 99kg. So what do you say, could this work?
Will do, lola! :)

i dont know but let me know if it is
