dry eye lasik surgery

dry eye lasik surgery
went to a local doc about getting lasik eye surgery and was told not a good candidate….contacts or not?

doc told me that I have mild dry eye…have had it for awhile now…I usually need to use rewetting drops but many times it doesn’t help…I can go without the drops but I can tell my eyes are dry and they usually turn red in the evening…lasik eye surgeon told met that I should not get the surgery because I sees that I have mild dry eye, have a high prescription, and am getting too old for the surgery (once you hit forty you will need reading glasses, etc.) If I have dry eye now and can’t get lasik eye surgery because of that, is it wise for me to get contacts? I would think my dry eye would cause a lot of discomfort when wearing contacts. I have heard of rostacea eye drops but I think that kind of medicine is meant to be used long-term. Am I better off wearing glasses instead of getting contacts because: dry eye and my astigmatism (I know I can’t wear disposables and would need hard contacts)

Stick to glasses. Hard contacts are even worse to get used to than soft. Also if you have an eye condition, glasses won’t make it worse.

No Lasik for me…I have Keratoconus! Version 2

lasik vs contacts

March 29th, 2010 The Doctor No comments

Lasik overcorrected? Your Myopia became Hyperopia?

Did you have Lasik to correct myopia, then overcorrected, and it became hyperopia (farsighted). What was the change like? How would you compare living with myopia vs hyperopia? Which is more difficult to deal with? How did you make the new correction, glasses or contacts? Further Lasik? And how are you doing now?

Anyone out there had Lasik for hyperopia overcorrected and ended up with myopia. What was that like?

Thats one of the possibilities. Sometimes it can be over corrected or under corrected.

Dr. Melrose talks about contact lens wearers having LASIK

lasik pregnancy

lasik pregnancy
Is it safe to do lasik surgery for eyes during pregnancy?

In my humble opinion, it is never safe to do lasik…. Of all of my friends who have had it done, fully 50% have had problems… some severe.

It’s one of those proceedures invented, and hoping people will buy… Frankly, my eyes are way too important to do that. Do lots of research hon, and ask lots of friends, and question the doc with big time questions, get on line, yadaydyadyadya. you may just change your mind…… pregnant or not pregnant.
