Do you like full lips or thin lips (think Angelina Jolie vs Jennifer Aniston when Jen doesn’t get collagen for an example)? Pale lips or dark lips? Brown lips (that are a common tone for Asians, some Italians, Middle Eastern, ect), pink lips or red lips? Which do you have? Please post your age, ethnicity, country, m/f, if you like what you currently have or would you like something else and why? Thanks.
I noticed a few answers prefer pale lips because they’re easier for lipstick. For those who would prefer pale lips for that reason solely, pretend there’s no such thing as lipstick or lip gloss and then answer.
I like full, medium toned lips, red.
I have full lips, medium I guess. And there inbetween pink and red. I’m 15, American, Female, and I love my lips.

Five Exciting Industrial and Medical Uses of Collagen
Collagen is the main protein that makes up connective tissue in animal bodies. With the scientific advances that have been made in recent years, it has become possible to harvest collagen from animal and even human bodies, as it has become possible to synthesize collagen into other quite useful substances. With these advances in biotechnology, new and quite revolutionary uses of collagen have been found, both medically and industrially.
On the medical front, collagen – being the protein that make up connective tissue as mentioned earlier- finds widespread application in reconstructive surgery; for instance in the treatment of fire accident victims who get completely disfigured. Before this particular application of collagen became possible, it was impossible to restore cosmetic appeal of fire victims; which meant they had to live the rest of their lives with the absolute disfigurement a fire accident can cause one, and the social disadvantage such disfigurement can mean. For this reason alone, many former fire victims were known to completely lose the will to live after the accidents – because living with the physical disfigurement was sure to subject them to a lifetime of rejection and treatment as ’second rate humans,’ meaning that the would live with emotional pain from the fire, long after the physical pain from the same had healed. Through the use of collagen though, it becomes possible to produce quite impressive results with reconstructive plastic surgery on former fire accident victims; sometimes ending up with results which makes it impossible for people getting to see the victims in question later to know that they had ever been involved in such an incident.
Besides reconstructive surgery, two other fields that find collagen a good medical aid are orthopedics and dentistry, where collagen is widely used as a treatment aid, making possible procedures that were absolutely impossible or even unthinkable before the advent of its use.
On the industrial front, most of the applications that collagen has found here have been as a direct result of the realization that collagen can actually be synthesized into gelatin, which turns out to be a highly useful substance in the food industry, especially for flavoring foods. Collagen has also found application, on the industrial front, in the manufacture photography aids (especially the variety that dominated before the advent of digital photography), as well as in the making of cosmetic products and in the pharmaceutical industry as well.
Still on the industrial front, but on an altogether different count, collagen and health benefits associated with it have given birth to a collagen-supplements industry, which is today said to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars, if not more. These collagen supplements are meant to mainly improve the skin appearance of their users, and today’s being the image-obsessed society it is, anything offering this particular promise is likely to be wildly loved. While there has been some contention about collagen supplements’ efficacy at this area (of directly improving users skin appearance ‘from within’ when ingested), the fact that people continue to buy it for that particular purpose shows that they surely must be getting some results from it. Otherwise they wouldn’t continue putting their money there.

Some might say Botox® injections are for the elite and exclusive. However, with more than 2.5 million treatments per year in the US, Botox injections are hardly exclusive. Despite recent economic slow down which has affected the sales of all luxury items including designer handbags and fine jewellery Botox® treatments continue to soar. So what is this treatment and how does it work?
Botox® is the trade name for a drug called botulinum toxin, a natural by product of the bacteria clostridia botulinum which is a nerve blocker. It has been used for over twenty years in medicine for muscular twitches and spasms. It is this effect which boasts its’ cosmetic value as long term muscle contractions is primarily the cause of the lines and wrinkles on the upper face.
To create facial expressions we contract the muscles in our face. When you smile the muscles around your eyes contract to create wrinkles on their sides resembling the feet of a crow. Hence, permanent lines around your eyes are commonly known as “crow’s feetâ€. Looking up forms the horizontal lines on the forehead and frowning / getting angry creates the deep vertical lines in between the eyebrows (also known as anger / frown lines). With age the skin looses its structural qualities and with repetitive muscle contractions over years the lines and wrinkles slowly engrave in the skin. The lines get deeper and alter their pigmentation making the lines and wrinkles more prominent and permanent. Paralysing the respected muscles by local injection of Botox® stops the lines and wrinkle forming thereby relaxing the skin overlying. The relaxed skin not only looks more youthful but any damage done over the previous years will reverse with time. Permanent lines will start to disappear and the treatment will knock off years of your age.
Effects can last up to 6 months by when new nerves start regenerating into the muscles to produce contractions again gradually restoring your original appearance. Then its time for another shot of injections and the cycle continues. Despite the cost per average treatment – of up to 40,000 rupees the results achieved are second to none. Sometimes knocking a good 10/15 years of your age these injections have become known as simple, quick, and safe amongst the medical community. Common minor side effects include bruises (lasting up to a week), irritation and headaches, droopy eyebrow, a weeping eye or problems with facial expressions most of which can be avoided by well trained and experienced cosmetic doctors. Serious side effect such as an anaphylactic shock is extremely rare.
With so much money at stake, will doctors really put the best interests of their patients first? If patients look better and if by implication have improved self-esteem, with minimal chances of complications and they there should be no ethical problem in treating those patients.
Botox® can also be used to improve chronic headaches, migraines, backaches and many more conditions associated with muscle contraction by relaxing the muscles that tense up in the respective regions. It is widely used in the oriental countries for patients with prominent jaw angles. Also, the same types of nerves that Botox® blocks also innervate the sweat glands. Hence, local Botox® injections are used to reduce sweating in patients with excessive sweating disorders most commonly on the face, palms, underarms and feet.
