The muscle group that most women want toned is their thighs. They work and work, but no matter what they do, but it seems as if nothing is works to get rid of the extra inches. Here are some exercises that will give you lean and sexy legs, and exercises that will not give you the results you need.
In order to get those thighs you have always wanted, you want to combine strength training and cardio. Strength training will help you to build the muscle, while cardio will burn the fat. When doing the strength training exercises you want to do about three sets of about 16 repetitions per set. By the third set, your legs should be burning. Here are three exercises that will work your thigh muscles.
Wall Squats can be done anywhere there is a smooth wall—home, gym, outdoors. Stand against the wall with your feet shoulder width apart. Slowly lower yourself down into a squatting position so your thighs are parallel (or as close to parallel as you can get) to the floor. Hold that squatting stance for five seconds and then raise yourself up to a standing position. Breathing is very important when doing any exercise. The best form of breathing is to inhale when you are lowering your body and exhale when you are raising your body.
Lunges are a great exercise for your lower body. Like most exercises, if they are done incorrectly they can injure your knee. There are three types of lunges: stationary, reverse, and walking. When you form a lunge you want to form two 90 degree angles with your legs. Make sure you also drop the back leg or you can injure yourself. If you need to hold onto something to help keep your balance, like a bench, when you are first starting out that is okay. You also want to keep your shoulders up and back. When you drop your shoulders you are not using your core.
Leg lifts also work the entire thigh. You can do these standing up or laying on a mat. To do this standing up, you want to lift your leg out to the side. This will work your outer thigh. If you want to work the back of your thigh, lift the leg backwards. To target the front of the thigh, lift the leg forward, and to work the inner thigh bring the leg across you body. Doing leg lifts while on a mat is very similar to standing leg lifts. To work your outer thigh, lie on your side and lift your top leg up. To work your inner thigh, lift your top leg up and then bring your lower leg up to meet the upper leg.
In addition to doing strength training exercises you should take a whey protein supplement. But isn’t that just for men? Won’t it make me bulky? No, whey protein supplements actually help to build the lean muscle you want. Building lean muscle will help you to burn more calories when you are at rest. The best whey protein is an isolate. Isolates are 90% pure protein when compared to concentrates. Also whey protein is easier to digest than soy proteins because they are dairy based.
When you add a good cardio session to your exercise routine you are helping your body to burn fat and calories all over. To achieve the slender, lean, sexy look do a good balance of strength training and cardio.
Silicone implants were first used for breast augmentation and reconstruction in 1962. The implants were extremely popular, but concern slowly started to develop regarding the health risks associated with them.
Patients must be educated about the fact that if an implant breaks, the effect of the breakage generally does not cause immediate symptoms. Further they are advised to have an MRI scan after five years and every two years thereafter to check for breakage.
Health Canada has lifted restrictions on silicone breast implants, giving two manufacturers permission to market their products in Canada. The background is that they have been linked to a variety of illnesses, the most controversial of which are connective-tissue diseases and symptoms. One should also notice that there has been a great deal of controversy regarding the safety of silicone implants but they have been marketed in the United States since 1963.
The silicone offers a more natural look because it is a gel-like substance which actually mimics the look of real breast tissue fairly well, and “moves” more like a real breast than saline does. Silicone screening procedures have been improved over the years as well. It is important to understand that there are several types of daily use materials that also contain silicone, such as some soaps and body lotions.
This type of breast implant has been through a number of stages of development. The FDA for a time did not certify the use of silicone implants due to safety issues. Exhaustive research around the world has led the FDA to again allow the use of silicone implants which it again considers safe. The newer silicone implants use a more cohesive gel that is less likely to move around the body if the implant in fact does leak. One major advantage of silicone implants is the very natural look they provide (as long as they are appropriately sized and positioned.
Saline filled implants should not be used for women under 18 and silicone breast implants not under 22. The reason is that the breast tissue may still change while in puberty or close after it. Also consider that silicone breast implants are not forever and that you most likely will have to have additional surgeries in future. If you want to remove your breast implants you must also know that it is not likely that you get your old shape back.
Even though silicone implants once again have FDA approval, saline implants are still a good choice for many women. Saline is available for breast augmentation to women 18 years and older, unlike silicone where the minimum age is 22 years. Saline implants, like their gel counterparts, have silicone shells, but the inside is filled with salt water instead of the gel.
Periareolar – this incision is most concealed, but is associated with a higher likelihood of inability to successfully breast feed, as compared to the other incision sites. Inframammary This incision is less concealed than periareolar and associated with less difficulty than the periareolar incision site when breast feeding.
If saline ruptures, it merely deflates, the saline is safely absorbed by the body, and it becomes obvious right away. Replacement is easy, and again, the incision is small. Silicones have what is called a silent rupture and is detected by an MRI. It is necessary to have an MRI every couple of years in order to catch this rupture and gets expensive over the years.
Breast implants can, however, potentially interfere with mammograms, self examinations, and nursing, so you need to be sure you are educated on how these health issues will affect you. Special instructions are available for mammograms and self exams with implants. Also, if you think you may breast feed in the future, certain surgical precautions can be taken with implantation.
