does underarm botox hurt
Does getting Botox in your underarms to stop them from sweating really work?
I’ve been dealing with hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating in the armpit area) since early high school. My doctor suggested Botox in the underarms. Has anyone tried it? Does it work? Does it hurt?
“Botox is reportedly a favourite with Oscar nominees who don’t want to work up a sweat on the red carpet. Some stars have injections in their armpits to paralyse the sweat glands there. This way they can receive their awards knowing they don’t have sweaty patches under their arms and hand back their couture outfits unstained.”

“Hyperhidrosis is a troublesome problem that results in awkward social situations for those that are affected. For example, salesmen with sweaty palms are at a distinct disadvantage. Unfortunately, topical and oral medications, iontophoresis, and surgery have not proven to be efficacious in the majority of patients. In fact surgery can result in compensatory hyperhidrosis in other parts of the body.
“Because the eccrine glands are innervated by sympathetic nerves that use acetylcholine as the neurotransmitter, BOTOX®™ is effective in temporarily reducing or abolishing sweat production in treated areas. Although hyperhidrosis is generally not considered a cosmetic problem, many patients will present to the cosmetic dermatologist for treatment of this embarrassing disorder.”
