Do Collagen Pills Help Your Skin? No, But They Make You Feel Good
The loss of collagen and elastin as we age is the principle cause of our skin wrinkles, crows feet, sagging and lines. But do collagen pills help your skin? Do supplements and pills build collagen in our skin or not?
There’s no doubt that as we age the loss of collagen is an extremely significant factor in our skin aging. It has been known for some time that collagen is an extremely important protein in the skin, and in the rest of our bodies, and that we lose collagen as we age. And that’s why there has been such a proliferation of skin care products and health products which contain collagen. But it’s a big leap from using those anti aging products to answer the question “do collagen pills help your skin” in the affirmative.
Collagen is an important protein for much of our body. It forms long fibers and these are responsible for strength in such parts of our bodies as our bones, ligaments, tendons and skin, and more. Collagen, almost literally, can be said to hold us together.
And in our skin it helps maintain skin strength and skin elasticity. As we age our skin loses some of it’s store of collagen, and so our skin loses some of it’s strength and elasticity. So it droops and sags under the influence of gravity, and forms lines and wrinkles. It loses it’s “luster” and just doesn’t glow like it used to.
So there are millions of dollars spent on all sorts of skin products and other products that contain collagen, and for that matter elastin. But building collagen in our skin could be a little more complicated than just eating it or rubbing it onto our skin.
Collagen pills, collagen supplements, products with it listed on the label, everywhere you see collagen. However there is no evidence that eating it or rubbing it on our skin does anything to build collagen in our skin, or anywhere. Because although it might be in the body, if you eat it, that’s a long way from knowing that your body can incorporate it into the existing stores of collagen, or you skin.
And it’s well known that collagen molecules are extremely large, and do not penetrate the epidermis, so do not actually enter the skin. So whether or not extra collagen in the skin actually increases our skin supplies, it’s irrelevant because it doesn’t make it into the skin.
So unfortunately we have to answer the question “do collagen pills help your skin” in the negative.
So is there nothing we can do to reverse the natural aging process that results in collagen loss and so in wrinkles and skin aging? Yes there is something we can do. You see skin care science has come a long way over the last few years, and some extremely talented scientists have now found a way to stimulate the skin to produce more of it’s own collagen. It’s a product called Cynergy TK, and the results of trials using Cynergy TK have been impressive indeed.
So rather than trying to add to our collagen by rubbing it on or eating it, the problem has been turned on it’s head, and the answer is to make the skin make more of it’s own. Trial results show visible results within a month.
Unfortunately though Cynergy TK is very expensive, and the big brands don’t use it. The big brand skin care companies spend so much on saturation TV advertising that they can’t afford to spend much on high quality product ingredients, or the products would become prohibitively expensive.

So, do collagen pills help your skin? No. But millions of women believe they do, so they feel good taking them. But the real answer to building collagen in your skin is to use products that stimulate the skin to create it’s own.
